A Muse Studio June Spotlight July 12, 2011

I hope that everyone is surviving this heat.  Here in New England, second day of 90 plus degrees.  Thank goodness for air conditioned offices.  Wasn’t it just a few months ago we were talking about how cold it was and couldn’t wait for the heat?

There are only a few more days left for the June A Muse Studio Spotlight where you can save 10% off certain stamp sets.  There is also a complimentary set of assorted paper pack.  Here are a couple of ideas the A Muse Studio team came up with using the stamp sets featured in the June Spotlight.

Love the Sea Shell set and the Life’s A Breeze is perfect for summer time.

What about the Mad for Plaids set?  Great idea to stamp paper and wrap up Hershey’s miniatures and tie with some ribbon or twine.  Perfect idea for a favor for a bridal shower or summer birthday party?

Check out my web shop for details.  Check back this weekend for our July Spotlight.  Happy creating and stay cool.

What’s your Favorite Flavor of Ice Cream? July 10, 2011

Who doesn’t love ice cream, especially in the summer time?  What’s your favorite flavor?  My favorite is vanilla with jimmies (sprinkles) or chocolate chip.  You have to have the jimmies, which just adds fun to your ice cream.  Just like the amazing A Muse Studio diamond glitter adds fun to this quick card I made for my June A Muse Studio workshop.

I used the What’s the Scoop  exclusive A Muse Studio stamp set.  I started with A Muse Studio sugar cardstock in an A2 size  (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) as my base and then stamped the ice cream cone three times on a square of sugar cardstock using  A Muse Studio French Roast ink, zapped it with a heat gun to set the ink, colored them with Copic markers (your favorite pink, yellow and green shades – but you can use whatever colors you love) and then using my Quickie glue stick, added the most amazing A Muse Diamond glitter to the top of the cones.  Love this glitter, but ask my friends, I love glitter when creating cards and think of it as the jimmies on my ice cream.  I then used foam mounting tape and poped up the ice cream cones to A Muse Studio grass cardstock and adhered to the sugar cardstock base card.  So, how quick and fun is this card to make?  All products used on this card are from A Muse Studio and you can check out my web site for more details and to find the products.

So, what is your favorite flavor of ice cream?  Happy summer and enjoy your ice cream and don’t forget the jimmies.

Hello June June 5, 2010

Filed under: General — marysarap @ 8:34 am

Just dropping by with a quick hello.  I just finished a week off and can’t believe that the first week of June is ending.  I had taken this past week off from work and couldn’t have asked for a nicer week.   I had what is being called a “staycation.”  The weather was perfect and it had the right balance of shopping, spending time with friends, lunch with my sister, relaxing and a trip to the Cape.  It was a much-needed change of scenery for a week.  Do you find that time seems to march by quickly when on vacation?  I can’t believe it’s Saturday already.   What do you do when you take a week off?

Have a fun weekend and remember to do something creative.

A Musing April May 17, 2010

Welcome.   Where has the time gone?  I truly hadn’t realized it’s been this long since I’ve written on my blog.  I promise to try to be better at posting.

As I have written about before, one of the stamping companies I love is A Muse Stamps, located in Seattle.  Every few months, a group of us, fondly called the New England A Muse Stamp Addicts, meet at one of our local scrapbook stores, Ink About It  for a shoebox card swap.  You design a card for the swap and put together kits for everyone and we spend the afternoon making cards.  It was a fun, creative Sunday in late April.

For a treat, I baked chocolate chip cookies and packaged them up in glassine bags and added personalized round labels I made on the computer.  I found the bags and labels at my local Paper Source store.  The glassine bags and labels make it fast and easy to do personalized labels for gifts.

The sun was shinning and the weather was great in April and despite the allergy fog I seem to be in for most of the spring, I was inspired to do something different for my card design this time around.  I used the Basic Grey Green at Heart paper collection, which I’m in love with and a touch of Bazzil green shimmer paper I had in my stash, which I think looks like the early morning dew on the grass.  Sorry for the slight shawdow on the picture.

The A Muse stamps I used are the Happy Spring, caterpillar, and ladybug.  How cute are they?  I used a white 4-bar card as the base and punched the flower paper and card together with a 2″ scallop punch to get the “window” in the card and so the paper could fit on the front of the card.  I then stamped the saying inside the “window”  and the ladybug slightly off-center of the saying.  For finishing touches, I used A Muse lime green pearls for random centers on the flowers and using Martha Stewart punches added the grass and butterfly.  I love her punches.  I stamped, cut out and colored the caterpillar and ladybug with Spica glitter pens in pink and red.  I used Colorbox Chalk Ink in Wisteria to stamp the saying.

Colorful Creations in Hyannis, MA is hosting another shoebox swap in June.  I’m working on my design now and it will be another fun day with fellow A Muse stamp addicts.  You can find information about the swap on the A Muse Lounge or you can call the store.  There might still be a few spots left if you wanted to join us.  Lovers of A Muse stamps are a fun, welcoming group.

Thanks for stopping by and check back again soon.  Planning a few more posts to  catch you up on some of creative times this winter and spring.  Remember, do something creative today!

Welcome Spring March 21, 2010

Just wanted to say Welcome Spring and good-bye winter.  The first day of spring arrived Saturday afternoon and here in the Boston area, we truly got a taste of it.  It got up to 70 in the Boston area and the sun was shining.  After the previous week of non-stop rain for four days and major flooding in the area, it felt wonderful to go out the door without the heavy winter coat, gloves and scarf.  But since this is New England, tomorrow it will back to the 40’s and more normal springtime temperatures.

What do you do to celebrate spring?  I find that I want to go outside, that I love it being light at night leaving work and want to start going in early so I can get out early.  Once this rib heals, I can’t wait to start walking again and in a few weeks be able to take out the golf clubs.  I  like to start organizing again, and I love bringing out spring colors – pinks, greens, blues – and can’t wait to switch to a lighter jacket.   Post a comment as to what you do to celebrate the arrival of spring.  Thanks for stopping by and Happy Spring!
