Just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving.  This is a day to reflect, spend with family and friends and be thankful for those in your life.  I am thankful for the little things in my life as well as for family and friends.  This is also a time to think about and be grateful for our troops that are keeping us safe and are far away from their friends and family.  Just say a good thought for them.   Wishing you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

A Moment’s Pause May 4, 2009

I have been a member of the Jr. League of Boston, a woman’s volunteer organization in my community for close to twenty years.  Through this organization I have met several interesting and wonderful people by serving on committees, being a leader, working on special projects and enjoying social time.  Some of these women, I’ve had the privilege of becoming friends with and very good friends with others.

Just over a week ago, I lost one of these friends after a very brief illness.  It was just about a month.  It was a shock to Linda’s family, friends and her extended community.  She touched so many lives in so many ways that I can’t begin to mention.  My friend was an amazing woman.  Linda was one of those quiet leaders who showed you how to lead by doing.  She didn’t ask for recognition but was given some well deserved awards through our organization.  She was the center of her family, active in her church and in the community.

I had the privilege of knowing her and calling her my good friend.  Linda was an invaluable part of our Sustainer group of the JLB and she touched my life in ways that I can’t explain.  She offered advice, friendship, support and laughter.  She loved life–traveling, community service, golf, skiing, and most of all, her family, friends and faith.

Last Thursday when we said good-bye to her, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful spring day in Boston.  She wouldn’t have it any other way.  I just want to say I will miss you my friend.  Thank you for your friendship, laughter, fun times, support and quiet way about you.  There is a sadness right now because you went so quickly and we really didn’t have a chance to say good-bye.  I know that you are already organizing a new committee, playing golf and loving where you are now.  God speed my friend.  dragongfly-purple

My friend’s very quick passing has taught me that you need to enjoy life and live it with no regrets.  Family and friends are most important and make sure that they know it.  Reach out to a friend that you haven’t been in touch with recently.  Next time your family, kids or friend asks you to do something, let the laundry sit, the house wait, shake off that tiredness and go out and and enjoy life.  Spend time with those that you love and do what you love.  Inspire others.

Thank you for letting me take a moment’s pause to remember my friend Linda and for the delay between postings.  Please check back soon.  I am heading to the National Stationary Show in New York City in mid-May and when I return, look for some fresh ideas, new projects and inspiration.

Enjoy life and have an amazing week.
