Just Keep Swimmin’ August 7, 2011

It’s hard to believe that it’s already August and that summer is flying by.  Today’s card is inspired by summer and the ocean.  I love the ocean and water.  I live within 10 minutes of the ocean, and although I’m not much of a beach bum, I love going to the beach at the end of the day and watching the sunset over the waves.

I recently made this card for a Workshop I held.  I used the a|s stamp set, Keep Swimmin; that you can see on my web shop

The card base is size A2 (4 1/4″ b y 5 1″2″) and in Sugar.  I cut a strip of Ocean cardstock to add a pop of color.  I then stamped the sea grass slightly off center in Fern ink on a square of Sky cardstock.  I briefly used the heat gun on it to set it and then stamped the school of fish in Cherry ink slightly on top of the grass.  The bubbles are stamped in Ocean ink that I let dry and then I filled in with Crystal Clear Glaze to give them a touch of gloss and bubbles.  How fun!  You can also add a touch of glitter.  The sentiment is also stamped in Ocean ink.  I used Latte ink in slightly sweeping at the end of the Sky cardstock to create a bit of a “sand” effect.  I used foam tape to pop up the Sky cardstock onto the Sugar card base.  I hope you enjoy this little bit of a summertime card in August.

Just a reminder, that a week from today, A Muse Studio On the Road will be in Nashua, NH and Linda Hartwich the owner of A Muse Studio will be leading the workshop.  I’m sharing the AS_Nashua_On the Road_August 2011 flyer for the Nashua, NH event and you can register through the link on my web site.  I hope to see some of you there.

A Muse Studio June Spotlight July 12, 2011

I hope that everyone is surviving this heat.  Here in New England, second day of 90 plus degrees.  Thank goodness for air conditioned offices.  Wasn’t it just a few months ago we were talking about how cold it was and couldn’t wait for the heat?

There are only a few more days left for the June A Muse Studio Spotlight where you can save 10% off certain stamp sets.  There is also a complimentary set of assorted paper pack.  Here are a couple of ideas the A Muse Studio team came up with using the stamp sets featured in the June Spotlight.

Love the Sea Shell set and the Life’s A Breeze is perfect for summer time.

What about the Mad for Plaids set?  Great idea to stamp paper and wrap up Hershey’s miniatures and tie with some ribbon or twine.  Perfect idea for a favor for a bridal shower or summer birthday party?

Check out my web shop for details.  Check back this weekend for our July Spotlight.  Happy creating and stay cool.

Welcome to July and summertime. Summer is my favorite season and I can’t believe it’s already the 4th of July weekend. Where does the time go? Didn’t someone once say life happens while you’re making plans? That seems so true for me these days.

While, I just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone who stops by to check out my blog and hope that you stay with me. A special hello to my fellow A Muse Studio fans.

Enjoy your 4th of July with friends and family and remember to do something creative this weekend.

Getting creative this summer August 11, 2009

How’s your summer going?  It’s hard to believe that it’s the middle of August.  The warm weather seems to finally have arrived, but we still haven’t hit 90 degrees here in Boston, but I’m not complaining.  I love the sun being out and it being in the 70’s and low 80’s, perfect.

I have been having a busy and fun summer so sorry for the lags between the postings.  I seem to be in a major day tripping and class mode.  In July, I took some fun classes and spent a Sunday afternoon with my sister at her home in Rhode Island, stamping, coloring and taking pictures in her garden.  We had a lot of fun.  This past spring, I discovered Copic Markers, at one of my local scrapbooking stores, which artists have used for years and recently “us crafters and stampers” have discovered.  The color is amazing and they are easy to use and have great ability to blend colors.  I encourage you to check them out if you are a stamper.

Here’s a card that I stamped and colored using them when I was at my sister’s.  I fell in love this beach chair stamp from Impression Obsession, one of my favorite stamp companies.  I made this as a thank you to my friend for having me stay with her down the Cape in July.  Thought it was perfect for that or just because or as a fun summer card.  I added a shell that I had picked up at my local craft store and sand embossing powder from Stampendous, another favorite stamp company, which I think is so fun.Beachy Chair card

This past Saturday, while most people were probably at the beach enjoying the wam weather, I took a class to make an amazing fun acrylic album from Sally Lynn MacDonald, who is a Copic Certification Instructor as well as an instructor and Prima Donna for Prima Marketing and instructor for  Clear Scraps.  I was truly inspired when I met her.

I’m excited that I start vacation next week for two weeks.  I hope to get creative, check out some new craft/scrapbooking stores and do some day trips, relax and spend a few days on the Cape.  I’ll try and post when I have time during vacation.  Enjoy the last weeks of summer and make it a creative week.

Hello.  I know that I’ve only posted sporadically lately and honestly, I just don’t know where the time has gone.  As I sit here this afternoon writing this, it is raining yet again and only 62 out and a huge rain storm is heading this way tonight.  It’s jean and sweatshirt weather.  It’s saying it will hit 80’s this weekend.  We can only hope.  New England/Boston has not had a summer this year.  We’ve had about two days that we’ve reached 80 degrees since May.

Since I have a summer birthday and love the summer and summer activities (Cape Cod, golf, day trips, walking along the beach in the early evening, dining outside with friends), this summer feels more like spring or fall.  Where has summer gone?  Can we even call it summer?  Someone at work today said there are only five weekends left of summer and I thought NO! I need more summer.  I’ve played golf a handful of times and done none of my usually summer activities.  When the sun comes out you don’t want to go to work, you just want to take advantage of it.  It puts everyone in a good mood.

A few weekends ago, I took a couple of fun classes and made 12 Christmas cards in July.  Classes were down the Cape, one of my favorite places to go.  I was able to stay with my very close friend and her family so I didn’t have to drive back and forth two days in a row.  It was so nice and I didn’t run into the normal heavy Cape traffic that weekend, much to my pleasure.   The missing sun even decided to came out after class, so I got in a little sun in as well.  That weekend I had a lot of fun and was able to combine some of my favorite things despite the weather–Cape, friends, and being creative.

Even though the sun seems to have taken it’s own vacation this summer here in Boston/New England and where we’d really like it to come back and the rain and cool weather to go on vacation, you can still be creative and have fun.   What are some of the fun things that you are doing this summer? Post a comment and share something you enjoy.

So, here’s to the rest of July and hopefully when I go on vacation in mid-August, the sun will come back from its vacation.

Hello. How have you been? I can’t believe that May is ending and June is starting tomorrow morning.  How did this happen?   I love this time of year.  After a long cold winter here in the East, everyone, especially me, seems to come alive when the sun comes out.  We had a few cold, raw days last week with rain and then the sun came out yesterday and your mood just lifts.  Does this happen to you?

I played golf yesterday for the first time in several months and realized that I need to get out more and get rid of the winter stagnet that had set in.  I also love to walk the beach near where I live.  The Clam Shop that’s been closed for the winter is open again and there are kids in the playground.  Nothing nicer than walking the beach and picking up a small plate of fresh fish to eat on the wall or sit at a table over looking the ocean or even bring home.  A taste of summer.

So, what do you need or like to do once spring has arrived and summer is a few weeks away?  Post a comment and let me know how you shake off the winter.
